Linux telepítése netbookra

A népszerű netbook számítógépek sajnos sok esetben csak egy operációs rendszerrel vásárolhatóak. Aktív Linux felhasználóként már jó ideje kacérkodtam a gondolattal, hogy lecserélem a Toshiba NB100 netbookom szoftverét. Az openSUSE disztribúciót régóta használom, kényelmes és kézre áll.

Előkészítés

Az előkészítést két lépésre osztanám. Első a telepítőkészlet letöltése. Internet hozzáférés birtokában a hálózati telepítőt választottam. Ez az ISO kép elfér egy mini CD-n is. A cdrecord utasítást használtam lustaságból, ami egyébként a wodim-ot hívta meg.

A CD előkészítése után a második lépés minden adat mentése. Az operációs rendszer cseréje miatt formázni kell a lemezt, ezért az adataink elvesznének. Tényleg mindent érdemes elmenteni, mert utólag az eldobhatónak gondolt ám mégis fontossá vált dokumentumok is eltűnnek.

Telepítés

A telepítő CD-t egy USB-s külső DVD íróba tettem (Samsung SE-S084D) majd a gép újraindítása után a BIOS menüben beállítottam első eszköznek. Ez nem okozott gondot, mert a gép rögtön felismerte a DVD írót. A telepítő betöltése után kiválasztottam a Magyar nyelvet és már indulhatott is a folyamat. A teljes telepített méret kb. 2 GB, ezért ez hosszabb folyamat, nálam úgy 1,5 h volt (ADSL).

Használatba vétel

Az első indításakor még egy-két apróságot be kell állítani, pl. ellenőrzi a frissítési forrásokat és ha igényt tartunk rá, akkor fel is telepíthetjük a biztonsági frissítéseket. Ablakkezelőnek a Gnome-ot választottam (a fenti képen látható). Igaz, hogy több erőforrást igényel, mint a kisebbek (pl. WindowMaker, OpenMotif), de sok kényelmi szolgáltatása van. Tetszenek az újításai - mármint a Gnome 3 nekem újdonság -, a felület intuitív.

Értékelés

Igen sok és bonyolult leírást olvastam arról, milyen úton lehet Linux-ot telepíteni mini netbookra. Ehhez képest csak betettem a CD-t egy külső USB-s íróba és hagytam bootolni. Nagyon egyszerűen telepíthető, szinte csak pár kattintás az egész folyamat. Az NB100-as régebbi típus, ezért hardware problémára nem igazán számítottam és nem is volt (a funkció gombok is rendben működnek). Mindenkinek bátran ajánlom.
